The Book of Days…part xxx

The Book of Days

The dawn’s early light can be pleasure enough for the whole day.

There are words enough to tell the story of “the temptation of day to come.”

It is my delight to write some of them for your delectation.

Vigil

In the splendid pause of dusk,

the lingering moment

   of the glows

      of the melted sun,

I pause on the damp sand,

I carry quiet wine

   to a smooth place

      above the high tide line,

and I feel the joy of day,

and the large sorrow of night,

and I will wait for early light.
