streak and dash and smudge…

Wild strawberry

This crayon sky

of streak and dash and smudge,

the bird that won’t be drawn,

she skips her way

   on high stark branches,

and invites my eye

to see her bit of sky,

and then I look away

   to see new color

      making a new day.
